On October 30, Commissioner Shen Beili met with the new Consul General of Qatar in Hong Kong, Mr.Mohammed Sultan Al-Kuwari and the new Consul General of Kazakhstan in Hong Kong,Mr. Rashid Yerishev,respectively in the Commissioner’s Office.
Commissioner Shen spoke highly of China's relations with Qatar and Kazakhstan as well as the cooperation and exchanges between Macao SAR and the two countries.
She said both Qatar and Kazakhstan are important participants of the “Belt & Road Initiative”. The initiative provides great opportunity for Macao to cooperate and exchange with countries and regions from all over the world. She hoped that the two Consul Generals would make more efforts to further facilitate such cooperation.
Commissioner Shen made brief introduction on the current economic situation in China. She also briefed the Consul Generals on the successful practice of "one country, two systems" and the development of "one center, one platform, one base" of Macao in recent years. She said that the Office was ready to contribute to the promotion of the cooperation between Macao and the two countries, and provide with necessary assistance to the two Consul Generals in performing their duties.
Mr.Mohammed Sultan Al-Kuwari and Mr. Rashid Yerishev both agreed with Commissioner Shen's comments on the bilateral relations, expressed the willingness to know more about the development of Macao SAR and its "one country, two systems" practice, as well as to play a even more positive role in promoting exchanges and cooperation between both sides.
