The Commissioner's Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China in the Macao Special Administrative Region(the Macao SAR) was officially inaugurated on 20 December, 1999, when Macao returned to China. According to the provisions of the Basic Law of the Macao SAR, the Commissioner's Office is an agency responsible for handling the foreign affairs affecting the Macao SAR, which are the responsibilities of the Central People's Government.
