On June 6, 2012, Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) Jia Qinglin met respectively with Tajik President Emomali Rahmon and Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambayev at the Great Hall of the People.

During the meeting with Rahmon, Jia said that since the establishment of diplomatic ties 20 years ago, bilateral relations have maintained sustained, healthy and stable development. The two sides trust and support each other in the political area, conduct sincere cooperation for common development in the economic area, help each other for the maintenance of regional stability in the security area and learn from each other and share outcomes of civilization in the area of culture. The two countries have carried out close cooperation on regional and international issues and jointly safeguarded their interests, Jia said. China always deems Tajikistan as a sincere friend and reliable partner and will as always respect the development path chosen by the Tajik people according to their national conditions and support the Tajik government's efforts to safeguard national independence, sovereignty and security and promote economic and social development. China is willing to continue working with Tajikistan and offer mutual assistance to jointly build more vibrant good-neighborly and friendly cooperative relations.

Rahmon said that since the establishment of diplomatic ties, bilateral relations have achieved great development. Political relations between the two sides have reached an unprecedented high level and economic exchanges are becoming closer. Over the years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, trade between the two countries has increased by over 100 times and investment cooperation is in the ascendant. Both sides have also conducted sound cooperation in combating the "three forces" and drug trafficking. The Tajik side is willing to work with China to expand cooperation in various fields.

During his meeting with Atambayev, Jia said China and Kyrgyzstan are friendly neighbors linked by mountains and rivers and the friendship between both peoples has a long history. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations, both sides have always treated each other frankly with mutual respect and pushed bilateral relations for substantial progress. At present, the two countries enjoy a high degree of political mutual trust, offer mutual firm support on major issues concerning each other's core interests and conduct fruitful cooperation in trade, transportation, culture and other fields. Both sides have also achieved fruitful results in security cooperation and the two peoples have deepened their mutual understanding and friendship, he said, adding the concept of friendship for generations is deeply rooted in the hearts of both peoples. China is willing to make joint efforts with the Kyrgyz side to further deepen bilateral good-neighborly and friendly cooperation and promote comprehensive, in-depth development of the relations. The two sides should further tap potential and push the pragmatic cooperation to a new level. Both sides should promote transportation, electricity and information network construction and improve interconnectivity. Both sides should also implement major cooperation projects already agreed upon and carry out new cooperation projects. They should also tap cooperation potential in neighboring areas to promote common development.

Atambayev said Kyrgyzstan admires China's development achievements. China is a great nation and the Chinese people will build their country even better. The Kyrgyz side hopes China will be more prosperous and stronger. The development of good-neighborly and friendly cooperation with China is an unswerving policy of the new Kyrgyz government. Kyrgyzstan is willing to expand pragmatic cooperation in various fields with China to benefit the two peoples.

Jia said the CPPCC and the Tajik and Kyrgyz parliaments play an important role in the political and social life as well as in external exchanges of their respective countries. Both sides should strengthen mutual visits and learn from each other in political participation and state governance to vigorously promote the development of bilateral relations and friendship between the peoples.

Rahmon and Atambayev said the Tajik and Kyrgyz parliaments are willing to conduct in-depth exchanges with the CPPCC to push forward bilateral relations.
