Notice on the Launch of Biometric Chinese Visa Service

According to relevant Chinese laws and regulations and referring to international practice, starting from 1st November 2021, the Commissioner's Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Macao SAR will start to take live photos and collect all fingerprints of applicants applying for visas for the mainland of China, and issue biometric visas accordingly (see attached sample).

For visa applications submitted on and after the 1st of November 2021, the Commissioner's Office kindly requests all visa applicants to fill online application forms and make appointments online, and then submit all required application documents in person to the Commissioner's Office and have all their fingerprints collected.

The following applicants can be exempted from fingerprint collection:

1. Applicants under the age of 14 or over 70;

2. Diplomatic passport holders, or applicants eligible for diplomatic, official and courtesy visas;

3. Applicants who have applied for Chinese visa with the same passport and have had fingerprints collected and visa approved within 5 years at the Commissioner's Office;

4. Applicants with all fingers mutilated or fingerprints uncollectible.

Please be noted that all applicants are requested to go to the Commissioner's Office in person for fingerprint collection. Applicants who forge fingerprints or use other people's fingerprints should be denied entering into China and bear all the consequences incurred.
